RJ Hawthorne
horror writer
RJ is a writer of bleak horror whose work centers on friendship, obsession, and the stories people tell themselves to survive. A student of the meta-narrative, she is drawn to horror rooted in intimacy—particularly the kind forged between people who trust each other too much. She aims to craft morally complex stories about humans doing their best—even when their best is terrifying.
When she isn’t writing, she’s wrangling her husband, twin boys, and two dogs on her family’s inherited farm just outside Richmond, Virginia. In the summers, she can be found at a haunted summer camp where she tests her own horror-movie instincts (and remains firmly undecided on the existence of ghosts).
